Despite the coffee.....

I am tired like hell. I will go to bed again, what a luxury, I love my life......

I saw both the photographs of 'Hasta pandangusthasana'and'Pada hastasana'and admire both of them but would like to understand further into it.Can you elobrate the difference and benefits of both the asana.Why and when should one do either of the asana to the benifit of which part of the body.

I'm pleased to hear from you.

These poses are the first poses after the surya namaskaras of the Ashtanga primary series.

I quote from the "Yoga mala" by P. Jois: "Padahastasana purifies the anal canal, kidneys, and lower abdomen."
It also stretches the harmstrings. It's a bit like paschimottanasana only easier as the gravity helps to bow forward. A wonderful pose.

....when the flat hands are under the feet more flexibility is required. That's in my opinion the only difference.
