Ah, it must look like a piece of cake

Ah, it must look as if it is easy, when I practice Ashtanga yoga. A spectator must have the feeling: Me, too, I can do this easily. Only when trying some of the asnasa or movements the revelation shall arise that it is not so easy. But when watching me, it must look as if it is a piece of cake. That's how my practice shall look like: Like a piece of cake. Me - a piece of cake......

That is interesting, at a shala talk last Sunday, our teacher mentioned how the breath is what helps us make the pose without effort, and how that is the aim, to make it gracefully as if it was easy... I relate to what you say, only once we walk in the territory do we know how difficult it is to get to doing it with grace and elegance... and some days not even

Hi claudia, This with the breath is really experience.Lately I realized i.e. that I hold my breath when I go into pincha mayurasana (I do it against the wall). I breathed then (inhaling) and I could do the pose without wall....

My opinion: Ashtanga yoga do often ambitious people. They often fight. I know that it takes sometimes years till an asana is possible and then I see these fighting faces...I am the same. But I try to remember to look as if it is easy........:) It is more beautifully....Happy weekend. U
